{"id":6369,"date":"2012-11-29T14:08:53","date_gmt":"2012-11-29T19:08:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/?p=6369"},"modified":"2012-11-30T08:16:52","modified_gmt":"2012-11-30T13:16:52","slug":"the-consistency-of-the-panamanian-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/the-consistency-of-the-panamanian-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"The Consistency of the Panamanian Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/growth-graph.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6370\" title=\"growth graph\" src=\"http:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/growth-graph.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/growth-graph.jpg 188w, https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/growth-graph-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0 like this graphic\u00a0 and it is no wonder that I use it a lot to describe the growth here in Panama.\u00a0 I have\u00a0 been here since 2006 and I cannot wait to see what happens here over the next 10 years.\u00a0 While there are concerns that the growth will slow after 2015 or so, I do not see that happening as Panama continues to demonstrate fundamental strengths in it&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>The end of 2012 will show that Panama\u2019s growth during the year will  be close to 10%, and forecasts of the Chamber of Commerce are that in  2013 it will go up by another 8%.<\/p>\n<div><a id=\"li_ui_li_gen_1354215844812_0-link\">inShare<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Regarding  the projections for this the year end, Manuel Ferreira, chief economist  of the Chamber, said, &#8220;We estimated at the beginning of the year a  growth of 8%, and it grew to 9.5%.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Economic growth will continue to be accompanied by pressure on prices,  which will be further exacerbated by the effects of drought in the  United States.&#8221; In 2012 it was over 5.3% and for 2013 it may be closer  to 6%. Concerns exist, because it not only impacts on consumers, but  businesses as well \u2018&#8221;, noted an article in Prensa.com.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2014 will have great challenges, major infrastructure works  such as the expansion of the Canal, the Metro and several highways,  engines that have driven economic growth will be in their final stages. This will be coupled with a change of government.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This situation, coupled with doubts about the evolution of the  international economy, could cause a more marked slowdown in the
