Panama and Chile agreed on a set of measures aimed at facilitating the exchange of agricultural products, which will result in benefits for both producers and consumers in both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At a meeting of the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, officials and diplomats from both countries discussed issues of bilateral interest, including the procedures to enable fishing plants, hydrobiological products and livestock, as well as phytosanitary aspects related to fruits such as pineapple, avocado, mango and pitahaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this sense, Chile’s interest in increasing the reception of Panamanian products, mainly these tropical fruits, was highlighted, expanding the opportunities for the country’s exporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Likewise, both countries agreed to advance in the development of bilateral cooperation activities in areas such as technology, organic certification and the implementation of remote verifications for low-risk products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI), Linda Castillo, indicated that this agreement marks a significant milestone in Panama’s trade relationship with Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“For the Government, it is of utmost importance to maintain dynamic bilateral trade relations and make the most of the benefits of our international trade agreements,” Castillo added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commercial relationship between Panama and Chile, within the framework of the current FTA, has shown a solid trajectory of more than 16 years, consolidating itself as an alliance of mutual trust and a solid basis for future opportunities for cooperation and trade exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
