and in the cargo area of the Tocumen International Airport.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m107-106-108\" class=\"paragraph \">The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, reported that the scanners were acquired through the Speed Joyeros S.A. funds, for a cost of $7.6 million.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m112-111-113\" class=\"paragraph \">The head of<\/p>\n<p id=\"m122-121-123\" class=\"paragraph \">We are aware of what rises (drug) to Central America, but it is also important to monitor what goes down, because they are often weapons and money from the United States and Mexico to Panama.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"m127-126-128\" class=\"paragraph \">Scanners are scheduled to arrive in Panama from the United Kingdom in mid-December.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m132-131-133\" class=\"paragraph \">This new equipment will have an intelligent X-ray system for charging, with the capacity to detect double-bottomed vehicles, firearms and illicit substances at these checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m142-141-143\" class=\"paragraph \">Minister Pino pointed out that the new video surveillance centers and the acquisition of these new scanners are part of the National Government&#8217;s strategies,
