The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, in the company of the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge, delivered the order to proceed to the Transeq S.A. – Estrella Engineering Consortium for the execution of the Caribbean Corridor project, which will connect the Panama-Col\u00f3n highway with the Costa Arriba of this province located in the Caribbean of Panama.<\/p>\n

With the delivery of the order to proceed for the construction of the Caribbean Corridor Project, we are adding a new road structure to improve land connectivity in the province of Col\u00f3n,” said President Cortizo Cohen.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic reported that, with an investment of $91.6 million that will benefit 56,000 Panamanians in the districts of Col\u00f3n and Portobelo, greater security will be given to the population and access to basic services.<\/p>\n

The head of the Executive stressed that, with the optimization of the region’s road network, new opportunities are created for domestic tourism in the province that have a<\/p>\n

In addition to generating direct and indirect jobs, it will also benefit producers in these areas because it facilitates the transport of products and goods,” he added.<\/p>\n

President Cortizo Cohen reported that the work will be delivered completed within 730 days, that is, within two years from the delivery of the order to proceed.<\/p>\n

The design, financing and construction of the project includes all the necessary, topographical, hydraulic, hydrological, soil, geotechnical and environmental studies required to guarantee the quality of a work of this nature.<\/p>\n

This is another project that our administration carries out within the government strategy for economic recovery, always with the purpose of promoting the well-being and progress of all Panamanians,” said the Panamanian president.<\/p>\n

The project begins in Quebrada Ancha, near the intersection with Boyd Roosevelt Avenue, and ends at the intersection with the road to Portobelo.<\/p>\n

The work consists of the construction of 2, bridge over Quebrada Agua Clara 3 and Bridge over R\u00edo Mango Indio.<\/p>\n

In addition, they contemplate acceleration lane at the exit of the Quebrada Ancha-Mar\u00eda Chiquita road, deceleration lane (access to the road), a roundabout, four level returns on Boyd Roosevelt Avenue, a vehicular viaduct and level crossing with its accesses. The<\/p>\n

construction of entrance to secondary streets, entrances for access to homes, shops; the design and placement of complete horizontal and vertical signage for road safety; the design and construction of booths and bus stop bays, among other facilities of the work.<\/p>\n
