{"id":29680,"date":"2020-08-18T10:47:11","date_gmt":"2020-08-18T15:47:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/?p=29680"},"modified":"2020-08-18T10:47:11","modified_gmt":"2020-08-18T15:47:11","slug":"panama-creates-indigenous-sustainable-tourist-circuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/panama-creates-indigenous-sustainable-tourist-circuit\/","title":{"rendered":"Panama Creates Indigenous And Sustainable Tourist Circuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/indegenous.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29681\" src=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/indegenous.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/indegenous.jpg 700w, https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/indegenous-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On August 9,\u00a0<strong>International Day of Indigenous Peoples<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Panama Tourism Authority\u00a0<\/strong>(ATP) presented to Panama\u2019s\u00a0<strong>National Council for the Integral Development of Indigenous Peoples<\/strong>\u00a0(CONDIPI) the proposal of creating a new tourist circuit called &#8220;<strong>Panama<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Ind\u00edgena<\/strong>\u201d (Indigenous Panama), developed with the recently formed\u00a0<strong>National Chamber of Tourism Indigenous<\/strong>\u00a0(CANTURI).<\/p>\n<div id=\"content-embed-one-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<p>The Indigenous Panama tourist circuit highlights Panama\u2019s pre-Columbian cultures, as well as the seven living indigenous peoples of the country: Bri Bri, Naso, Ng\u00e4b\u00e9 and Bugl\u00e9, in the forests and savannas of the western provinces; and the Guna, Wounaan and Embera, east of the\u00a0<strong>Panama<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Canal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal is part of the\u00a0<strong>Heritage<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Routes<\/strong>\u00a0system developed by ATP to offer visitors a living example of Panama\u2019s cultural heritage. Focusing on the ecological riches of the \u201cgreen\u201d and \u201cblue\u201d heritage that surrounds indigenous peoples, the circuit will include the ecological wealth of the\u00a0<strong>Panama Canal Basin<\/strong>, which is one of the main maritime routes in the world, as well as the community organization of the Gunas, settled on the paradisiacal\u00a0<strong>Caribbean<\/strong>\u00a0beaches of the more than 300 islands that make up the\u00a0<strong>Archipelago of Guna Yala<\/strong>\u00a0(San Blas).<\/p>\n<div id=\"mobile-ad-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<p>The circuit was created to promote the development\u00a0of the 300 townships with the greatest socioeconomic vulnerability in the country. To begin, pilot communities will be selected based on objective criteria and priority will be given\u00a0to communities of the\u00a0<strong>Colmena<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Plan<\/strong>, where economic poverty\u00a0and natural and cultural wealth coincide.<\/p>\n<p>Through this collaboration, training programs will be developed for the organizers of the tourist attractions that make up the circuit; as well as promotional campaigns that highlight its attractions, such as dances and traditional music, handicrafts, ecological hiking, traditional medicine, indigenous gastronomy and site museums. The objective is to strengthen the incidence of sustainable indigenous tourism, through guidelines, policies and strategies consistent with the worldview and wisdom of Panama\u2019s native peoples and
