{"id":27989,"date":"2020-02-09T10:21:50","date_gmt":"2020-02-09T15:21:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/?p=27989"},"modified":"2020-02-09T10:21:50","modified_gmt":"2020-02-09T15:21:50","slug":"home-sales-optimism-panama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/home-sales-optimism-panama\/","title":{"rendered":"Home Sales: Optimism in Panama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/180-homes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-27990\" src=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/180-homes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/180-homes.jpg 700w, https:\/\/panamaadvisoryinternationalgroup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/180-homes-300x159.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the Preferential Interest Act was modified and the maximum limit for applying preferential interest to the purchase of homes was raised to $180,000, an 11% decrease in the inventory of available homes was reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"description\">In September 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/centralamericadata.com\/en\/article\/home\/Panam_Sancionan_Ley_de_intereses_preferenciales\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>a bill was approved which establishes that for the purchase of homes for a value of between $120,000 and $150,000, the government will assume 2% of the bank interest, and in the case of properties that are between $150,000 and $180,000, the exoneration will be 1.5%<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This change has boosted <a class=\"hlink\" title=\"sales\" href=\"https:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22sales%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">sales<\/a> in the <a class=\"hlink\" title=\"Panama\" href=\"https:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22Panama%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">Panama<\/a>nian real estate market, since the available inventory of <a class=\"hlink\" title=\"home\" href=\"https:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22home%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">homes<\/a> has dropped from 3,600 to 3,200 and in addition there has been an 18% increase in mortgage approvals.<\/p>\n<p>You may be interested in &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/centralamericadata.com\/en\/article\/home\/Oferta_inmobiliaria_Cmo_se_comportan_los_precios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Real Estate Supply: How do Prices Behave?<\/u><\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Data from the Superintendence of Banks of Panama (SBP) detail that up to November 2019, the amount of homes sold under the Preferential Law was $6,109 million, a figure that exceeds by 18% the $5,151 million registered in the same month of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Luis Pimentel, president of the Panamanian Association of Realtors and Developers (Acobir), told Panamaamerica.com.pa that they are &#8220;<em>&#8230; on the right track so that in the next two years we finish with the existing inventories. We must strengthen the alliance with the government to achieve economic recovery.<\/em>&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"link_source\">Source: <a
