coming to sense with real estate taxation. \u00a0If this works out, the first $120,000 would be exempt &#8211; for life! \u00a0The balance would be taxed at between 0.50 or 0.70 percent depending on what come of the proposals on the tables.<\/p>\n<p>The association of private companies proposes applying a single rate of 0.5% on the surplus over $120 thousand for all property that is a main residence.<\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"><a class=\"hlink\" title=\"Panama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22Panama%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">Panama<\/a>nian businessmen believe that the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/centralamericadata.com\/en\/article\/home\/Panam_Exoneracin_del_impuesto_de_inmueble\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>bill<\/u><\/a>\u00a0that the government will be presenting, to raise the value of the houses that can be exempted from the payment of the property tax up to $120 thousand, is not equitable, and argue that the proposed rates are very high.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">In this regard, they propose\u00a0<em>&#8220;&#8230; applying a single rate of 0.5% on the taxable surplus over US $120,000 for any property that qualifies as a main residence and 0.6% on the taxable surplus over US $30,000 for any other property that may belong to the taxpayer, be it other types of\u00a0<a class=\"hlink\" title=\"housing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22housing%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">housing<\/a>, commercial premises or other property&#8221;.<\/em><\/span><em><br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<span dir=\"ltr\">From a statement issued by the Chamber of Commerce:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama, following a preliminary analysis of Bill 509, &#8220;That amends articles of the Tax Code in matters related to property\u00a0<a class=\"hlink\" title=\"Taxes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22Taxes%22&amp;q2=mattersInCountry_es_le:%22Panama%22\">taxes<\/a>\u00a0and dictates other provisions,&#8221; appealed to a search for a broad consensus among all sectors impacted, submitted recommendations for consideration and requested respect for legal certainty and commitments.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wpcf7 no-js\" id=\"wpcf7-f16536-o1\" lang=\"\" dir=\"ltr\" data-wpcf7-id=\"16536\">\n<div class=\"screen-reader-response\"><p role=\"status\" aria-live=\"polite\" aria-atomic=\"true\"><\/p>
