\/>\n<\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\">In 2016 the USA accounted for 66% of the value of Central American exports of fresh or dried\u00a0<a class=\"hlink\" title=\"banana\" href=\"http:\/\/www.centralamericadata.com\/en\/search?q1=content_en_le:%22banana%22\">bananas<\/a>, worth $1,584 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">According to CentralAmericaData&#8217;s interactive platform &#8220;Crop Monitoring in Central America&#8221;, of the value exported to the US in 2016, the companies Del Monte, Standard Fruit, Tropical Rica and Cobal accounted for approximately 20%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Variation of regional exports\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Between 2015 and 2016 the export value of fresh or dry bananas increased by 8% going from $2,215 million sold in 2015 to $2,393 million in 2016.<\/span>\u00a0<span dir=\"ltr\">The volume exported also grew by 8%, going from 5.2 million tons in 2015 to 5.7 million tons last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Exports by country<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\">In 2016 the leading exporter of fresh or dried bananas in Central America was Costa Rica with $997 million, followed by Guatemala, with $777 million, Honduras, with $510 million, Panama with $92 million Nicaragua with $17 million and El Salvador, with $2
