Meanwhile,\u00a0Honduras\u00a0ranked between\u00a0Nicaragua\u00a0and\u00a0Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0That means that three Central American countries are among the four most globalized countries in\u00a0Latin America.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cIt is interesting to see the good performance observed by Central American countries,\u201d says Ricardo Ernst, deputy dean of the McDonough School of Business at\u00a0Georgetown\u00a0University\u00a0and editor-in-chief of\u00a0<em>Globalization, Competitiveness and Governability<\/em>, a journal published by\u00a0Georgetown University\u00a0and Universia. \u201cWe have seen a sustained improvement over the last couple of years and it might be a confirmation of the success that CAFTA [Central American Free Trade Agreement] has provided. The improvement is in all significant dimensions such as exports, imports, FDI and even tourism.\u00a0 Let\u2019s remember that the metrics are calculated relative to GDP so they do factor in the size of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<strong>CENTRAL AMERICAN STAR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Panama\u00a0remains the Latin American country with the highest exports as a percent of its GDP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\u00a0The index of 17 countries looks at six factors that measure a country&#8217;s links with the outside world:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Exports of goods and services as a percent of GDP<br \/>\n&#8211; Imports of goods and services as a percent of GDP<br \/>\n&#8211; Foreign direct investment as a percent of GDP<br \/>\n&#8211; Tourism receipts as a percent of GDP<br \/>\n&#8211; Remittances as a percent of GDP<br \/>\n&#8211; Internet penetration<\/p>\n<p
