CHIRIQU\u00cd PROVINCE, PANAMA<\/strong>.\u00a0The Chiriqu\u00ed province is home to an amazing variety of attractions, which include beaches, islands, rivers for white water rafting and kayaking, high-altitude mountains for hiking and climbing, lush tropical forests which host exotic flora and fauna, and lively cities such as David, the capital of the province. Chiriqu\u00ed is located in the western region of Panama, with Costa Rica forming its western border and the Pacific Ocean to its south. Its particularly unique terrain gives Chiriqu\u00ed an ideal climate for agriculture. The Highland areas, including Boquete and Volc\u00e1n, are gifted with fertile soil. This soil and climate tandem allows for abundant harvests of coffee, oranges, strawberries and vegetables every year.<\/p>\n

The province is also home to the\u00a0Volc\u00e1n Bar\u00fa<\/a>, a dormant volcano and also the tallest mountain in Panama, measuring 11,398 feet (or 3,474 meters) above sea level. It towers above the surrounding landscape and is one of the only places in the world where one can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea at the same time with the naked eye.\u00a0The soils on the slopes of the volcano are famous for their fertility, and the cool, wet climate of this area makes it Panama\u2019s most agriculturally productive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Chiriqu\u00ed offers much more than just agriculture and natural beauty, however. It\u2019s capital city, David, is a\u00a0center for commerce, and offers a rather robust \u201ccity living\u201d experience\u00a0for\u00a0its residents and visitors. Located in the western Lowlands, the city is a gateway to many of Chiriqu\u00ed\u2019s attractions, including the Gulf of Chiriqu\u00ed with its many islands, and the mountainous Highlands region, where the weather is cooler and the forests are strikingly green and lush.<\/p>\n
