News from Panama / Monday, August 20th, 2018

The Asian country has authorized 64 Panamanian tour operators, meaning that starting on August 15, they will start offering group travel services to Chinese tourists travelling to Panama.

The administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), Gustavo Him, stated that group trips of Chinese tourists traveling to Panama, will be carried out in common agreement between the authorized Chinese and Panamanian companies, who will be in charge of preparing packages, which will include our country’s attractions of interest to the travelers that will arrive from the Asian giant.

From a statement issued by the Panamanian Tourism Authority:

As of August 15, some 64 Panamanian type A companies (tour operators) will be able to start commercial relations with the People’s Republic of China, which recently authorized group travel services for Chinese tourists coming to Panama.

This  was announced by the government of the Asian country in a letter sent by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through which the status of Panama as an “Approved Tourist Destination” was also reiterated.

The aforementioned status came after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding -to facilitate group travel from China to Panama- between both nations, during an official visit by the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, in November last year, following the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China.
