The administrators of Tocumen airport are preparing tender specifications for the design of the airport city project, in which three international companies may already be interested.

The Airport City project was already contemplated in the master plan proposed in 2004, and included a hotel, a convention center and a hospital . The administrators of the International Airport of Panama City says there are three companies interested in the project, to be built in the area of ?325 hectares bought from the University of Panama.

Joseph Fidanque III, manager of the airport, told Prensa.com that “… the plan will define the scheme to be used to develop this project. ‘We want to know whether it is better to concession spaces that will be made available? in the project, or whether it would be better to sell them’.

During the past administration it was indicated that Tocumen needed to be allocated about $400 million to build basic infrastructure to develop the project to house office and warehouse areas. When they started to explore the possibility of building on the project it indicated that at least five hotels had shown interest in the work.
