Three Offers to Build $70 million Jail

Chinese and Panamanian companies make up the consortiums that submitted offers ranging between $76.7 million and $77.4 million to build a new prison complex in Colón, Panama.

The government ministry received the three proposals on September 18 in the best value tender for the project “Study, Design, Construction and Equipment of a New Penitentiary Complex in Colón”, which will be located in the Rio Piña sector, in the town of Cristobal.

The project has a reference price of B /. 70, 405,353.20. 

The proposals received were from Consorcio Sistema Penitenciario Colón (Construcción S.A. and Zhejiang Southeast Space Co, S.A.) which offered B / .76,737,784.04; while the company China State Construction Engineering Corporation, presented its proposal of B / .77,445,887.23; and the Consorcio Penitenciario Colón (IBT Group and Constructora Rodsa S.A.) offered B / .77,445,887.00.
