Consideration is being given to removing the ceiling of 500 kW in installed capacity for solar power plants producing energy for self consumption.

The proposal by the Public Services Authority (ASEP) emerged as a result of the public consultation which was carried out on the rules to generate solar power for self consumption by households and businesses. Specifically, Asep is considering eliminating the ceiling and it depends on the consumption capacity of each company or home.

Capital.com.pa reports that “… Given the high interest shown by customers and companies dedicated to installing solar panels, the consultation period for this new proposal has been extended from April 12 to 25 2016 in order to receive, from the Panamanian citizenship, comments on this modification procedure which is intended to allow customers have the ability to supply themselves using clean, renewable sources. “
